    Master of Divinity Supplemental Items

    Personal Essay

    Please submit a reflective essay on your calling to ministry. 1-2 pages in length (typed, double-spaced) following the guidelines below:

    1. Given an account of your Christian journey.
    2. Explain your sense of calling and personal commitment to ministry.
    3. Describe the goals and plans you have for your current and future ministry.
    $50 Application Fee

    The application fee is waived for current or former HSU students. Checks may be payable to Hardin-Simmons University, or online by using cashnet.

    Official Transcripts

    Applicants must submit official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate study. To be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly from the student’s college, university, or seminary to the Logsdon Seminary Admissions office. If needed, the Transcript Request Form may be used.

    Personal References

    Three references are required reflecting evidence of a student’s character, commitment, and readiness for a graduate, professional program of study in ministry preparation. Please complete the Electronic Recommendation Form.

    * One reference must be from the student's pastor (If student is pastor, then another staff member or church clerk may serve as the reference).

    BGCT Church Certification

    Baptist Students are eligible for Ministerial Financial Aid from the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Completion of the BGCT MFA Form by the applicant and their ecclesial body also provides necessary evidence of congregation involvement.

    *Non-Baptist Students should instead complete the Church Recommendation.

    Church Recommendation

    Logsdon Seminary welcomes applicants from non-Baptist settings, for such students a completed Church Recommendation Form is required to evidence congregational involvement.

    Interview with a Seminary Official

    Each applicant must interview with a seminary official. Complete the Interview Form to setup your interview with your prospective program and/or campus director.

    Meningitis Vaccination

    Texas legislation mandates that effective January 2012 every new student and new transfer under the age of 22 to any Texas university, regardless of living on campus or off campus, will be required to have a Meningitis Vaccination at least 10 days prior to beginning class.     3. Describe the goals and plans you have for your current and future ministry.

    For the MACCMF, applicants should submit a written statement, 1-2 pages in length (typed, double-spaced) regarding the goals that he/she has for the MACCMF program of study.

    Writing Sample

    Applicants will provide a sample of formal academic writing that demonstrates research and writing ability.

    Once an application packet is complete, those who are to be considered for admission will be invited to campus for interviews with the CCMF Program Faculty and a separate interview with the MAFM Program Director. A completed application does not guarantee an interview.

    Standardized Test

    Applicants are required to receive a competitive score on the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) or the MAT (Miller Analogies Test). GRE Code: 4254, MAT Code: 1236.

    Personal Statement

    Prepare a personal statement that reflects your autobiographical and theological perspectives. Your response should give careful attention to style and content (typed, double spaced) following the guidelines below:

    Autobiographical Perspective (in 5-7 double-spaced pages)

    1. Provide a narrative account of your Christian journey and your call to ministry
    2. Evaluate your educational experience up to this point. While the narrative will include many items, but be sure to discuss what appealed to you most and least in your educational background, learning styles/processes that you prefer and do not prefer, and what you might change about your educational experience if you had it to do over again.
    3. Describe the nature of your ministry experience thus far and how you evaluate that experience. Within the narrative discuss, among other things, your philosophy of ministry, the most and least enjoyable aspects of ministry for you, how you feel about your ministry career, and the goals you have for your ministry.
    4. Describe your reason for pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree, including how you perceive the degree will enhance your ministry.

    Theological Perspective (in 3-5 double-spaced pages)
    Provide a statement that explores your personal perspective on selected theological issues. The statement is not intended as a research assignment but rather a brief credo of your own reflection. In the statement explore your theological perspective on any TWO of the following: (1) Scripture, (2) Christology, (3) Soteriology, or (4) Ecclesiology.

    Church Recommendation or Alternative Ministry Setting Recommendation

    Applicants should request their church or ministry setting to officially endorse them and complete the Church Recommendation Form.

    *If your ministry is not in a local church, an alternative process is employed. Please contact Logsdon Seminary Admissions Office for details.

    Once all other admission materials have been processed, applicants should sign a release for conducting a background check, which is required for the supervision in ministry element of the degree.
