Dr. Travis L. Frampton has taught at HSU since 2000. He received his B.A. from Samford University (1994), his M.A.R. from Yale University (1996), and a dual Ph.D. in philosophy and religion from Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Baylor University (2004), respectively. He was awarded a Fulbright fellowship during the 2001-2002 academic year to study early modern philosophy and hermeneutics at Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. His research topic focused on the early-Dutch reception of Benedict de Spinoza’s Tractatus Theologico-Politicus. His dissertation was published by Continuum Press (T&T Clark imprint) and entitled, Spinoza and the Rise of Historical Criticism of the Bible (2006). Teaches primarily in the area of biblical studies. His area of research interest is in the field of the history of ideas, particularly the history of biblical interpretation.

Dr. Frampton is the M. A. Program Director for Logsdon School of Theology, is the faculty sponsor for Theta Alpha Kappa (religious studies honors society), and is also currently the Vice President of the Southwest Regional National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion.

He enjoys reading, coaching little-league baseball, playing basketball, and watching his favorite TV show Lost. He and his wife Tonya have two sons, Blake and Benjamin.
