This one-day workshop is designed to aid area pastors and ministers in assessing their congregation’s current use of church facilities while considering how alternate uses may empower and equip vision. Workshop attendees will discuss relevant, practical questions about church facilities and their use, including:

• Who can help us begin the process of strategic facility planning? What resources are available?
• What are the critical issues every church leader should know about facility management?
• How does scripture inform the use of our facilities?
• Are our facilities functional? Are they “missional”?
• Should we build new facilities? Renovate? What about selling facilities/buildings?
• Given financial strain and difficult resource decisions, is vitality still possible?
• How do we deal with imposed regulations and codes?
• What do we do if our congregation is too small for/outgrows our building?
• Can we make changes to maximize financial savings on utilities?
• Have we imagined other possible uses for our facilities?
• How do visitors experience our congregation through our use of space?
• In what ways does our facility use impact church growth? Worship? Bible Study?
• Are we using our church’s current facilities to best realize our vision for ministry?

The workshop will be led by Keith Crouch, Director of Church Architecture for Texas Baptists and Russell Maddox, Church Architecture Specialist for Texas Baptists.

Logsdon Seminary Offers Coursework in McAllen

Logsdon Seminary is breaking new ground in ministry preparation in South Texas. Beginning this fall, Logsdon Seminary is offering coursework in McAllen as an outreach of its Corpus Christi campus.

The McAllen Area has about three-quarters of a million people and is one of the fastest growing population centers in the nation. Until now this large metropolitan area has not had access to Protestant graduate theological education. In response to this need, Logsdon has seen this need and is moving forward with plans to develop an extension campus in the McAllen area.

The seminary is offering one course in McAllen this fall, taught by Dr. Ken Hugghins, and another course will be offered in the spring term. The classes meet in a state-of-the-art classroom at BT McAllen, a dynamic church, whose lead pastor, Trevor Carpenter, is also a Doctor of Ministry student at Logsdon.

Logsdon Seminary is currently moving toward the creation of an on-going extension at McAllen, where up to 49% of the Master of Divinity degree may be earned (the remaining coursework may be taken at Logsdon's Corpus Christi extension). The proposed McAllen center will function cooperatively with the Corpus extension, involving a sharing of resources and leadership housed at the South Texas School of Christian Studies.

New Home for Logsdon Seminary in San Antonio

Logsdon Seminary’s San Antonio extension is moving to a new location in the city.

Under the leadership of This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , the San Antonio program has grown in terms of enrollment and course offerings. As a result, the extension needed a larger space and has moved this fall onto the campus of Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio.

In the past Logsdon’s extension met at Wayland Baptist University in San Antonio, which has been a gracious host. However, because of the growth of both Logsdon and WBU, a new meeting place was required to meet demands. Logsdon’s close friendship with WBU will continue and grow in the years ahead, as seminary students are encouraged to take coursework from Wayland to transfer into their Logsdon degrees where appropriate, and vice versa.

Logsdon’s move to Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio provides the seminary with generous classroom, office, and student activity spaces that are designated for seminary purposes and will meet student needs for the foreseeable future. Logsdon is grateful to Trinity Baptist Church for their willingness to host the seminary’s program and looks forward to creative ways to partner with the church in ministry preparation.
